Accommodation

Question: How do I find accommodation?
Answer: Your host institution will assist you in finding accommodation. You will receive information on accommodation along with your letter of admission.

Visa

Question: How can third-country students and scholars obtain a visa to study/conduct academic activities in Europe on an Erasmus Mundus Course?
Answer: Once third-country students have received a letter of admission from their first year institution as well as information on how to apply for a visa, they must apply for a visa.

Application and processing visa fee procedures

Instructions on the application procedure are available on the websites of the respective host countries.

You will receive adequate information from your first and second host universities.

We kindly inform scholarship holders that the processing fee must be paid by yourself. Unfortunately, we cannot make any payments of your scholarship in advance to cover travel, fees etc.

Visiting scholars will receive a confirmation letter, and if needed, an invitation letter, from their host university.

Question: When can I expect to receive my visa?
Answer: It generally takes 10-12 weeks to process a complete application to Europe. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you start the application process as soon as you receive your admission letter. A delay in handing in the complete application could add approximately 8 weeks to the process.

Travel

Question: Who arranges and pays for my travel?
Answer: Unfortunately, the Secretariat is not able to assist you in your travel arrangements. Therefore, you must manage the booking of tickets yourself. Travel expenses are included in the scholarship (but scholarship instalments will not be transferred to you before your arrival).

Insurance

Question: Do I need to purchase an insurance?
Answer: All students who receive an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship are covered by a complementary sickness and accident insurance. All other students following an Erasmus Mundus Master course and third-country visiting teachers and researchers have to take out their own insurance policy as necessary.

Please note that due to national regulation on public procurement and insurance in some participating member states, it is for participants/students to obtain insurance offers and take out and pay for insurance meeting the minimum/recommended requirements  for the health and accident insurance coverage of EMJMD students. This does not apply to students selected for an Erasmus Mundus-scholarship and for this reason students not receiving and Erasmus Mundus scholarship will be given a deduction in their total participation cost of € 1,000.
