Recognized as the leading French Graduate Institution in Life Sciences, Agronomy, Food Technology and Environment, AgroParisTech (the Paris Institute of Technology for Life, Food and Environmental Sciences), has a tradition of more than 150 years. It is a member of ParisTech, a consortium of the best French Graduate Institutes in Science & Engineering (Grandes Ecoles).

AgroParisTech: (i) trains Master of Engineering, Master of Science and Doctoral students, through state of the art research and partnerships with companies, (ii) contributes to the advancement of scientific knowledge, in close association with public or private research centres, (iii) develops international relations to enhance the career prospects of its graduates worldwide, and takes its share into the constitution of a global community of research. AgroParisTech hosts 2000 graduate students, 450 PhD students (including 40% of international PhD students), 230 academic staff and 300 researchers in its 39 research laboratories.

AgroParisTechs School of Forestry, Agricultural and Environmental Engineering (AgroParisTech) is in charge of the MSc programs in forestry. At AgroParisTech, training and research in tropical forestry ís organized mainly on the campuses of (i) Montpellier, a city which network of graduate institutions and research centres is the largest national scientific community working on tropical issues, (ii) Kourou, in the tropical forest district of French Guiana. The staffs of AgroParisTech and the research partners (IRD, CIRAD, CNRS, INRA) involved in the training of students in tropical forestry, include approximately 60 academics and researchers. Within the field of forestry AgroParisTech has passed collaboration agreements with over 30 academic institutions around the world.
